Sheffield United have entered the race to sign talented Hungarian midfielder Mark Kosznovszky, currently playing for MTK Budapest.

The 23-year-old is attracting significant interest this summer after a breakout season in Hungary’s top flight, where he notched 3 goals and 5 assists from midfield. His performances have already earned a £500,000 bid from Portsmouth, but MTK are believed to be holding out for a higher fee.

According to Football InsiderSheffield United are now showing serious interest and are expected to submit a rival offer. The Blades, under new boss Ruben Selles, are in the market for central midfield reinforcements following the departures of Vini Souza and Hamza Choudhury, as well as the expiration of several loan spells.

Kosznovszky, who has represented Hungary at U17 and U23 level, began his career at MTK before a move to Parma in Italy in 2019. After struggling for first-team chances in Serie A, he returned to Budapest in 2021 and has since developed into one of the league’s standout young midfielders.

Sheffield United’s new AI-led recruitment model has played a key role in identifying under-the-radar talent across Europe, and Kosznovszky’s profile fits the data-driven approach.

With Portsmouth already on the table and MTK pushing for a higher fee, a bidding battle could be brewing between two ambitious EFL clubs.
