Luton Town have submitted an official bid for QPR forward Charlie Kelman, as the League One side look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The Hatters, preparing for life in the third tier after back-to-back relegations, have identified the 23-year-old as a key target following his prolific season at Leyton Orient. Kelman netted 27 goals in all competitions during his loan spell under Richie Wellens — including 21 in the league — helping the O’s reach the play-off final.

QPR are understood to be open to offers for the striker, who has struggled to make a breakthrough at Loftus Road since joining from Southend United in 2020. The club are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, with Schalke forward Pape Meïssa Ba among the names on their shortlist.

West Bromwich Albion and MLS side Charlotte FC are also believed to be monitoring Kelman’s situation, but Luton have acted first with a formal approach.

Despite making 26 senior appearances for QPR, Kelman is yet to score for the R’s and has spent much of the last three seasons out on loan with Leyton Orient, Gillingham and Wigan Athletic.

Following the end of his latest loan spell, Kelman posted an emotional message to Orient fans on Instagram:

“Thank you for everything — a special club with special people. An unbelievable journey this season and one I won’t forget. Once an O, always an O.”

Kelman is entering the final year of his contract at QPR, and the club must now weigh up whether to cash in or retain him as a depth option in Julien Stéphan’s new-look squad.
