Northern Ireland international Ronan Hale could be on the move this summer, with multiple League One clubs—including Reading and Wycombe Wanderers—reportedly preparing offers for the in-form Ross County striker.
The 26-year-old forward has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025/26 season in the Scottish Championship, scoring four goals in his first six appearances for the Staggies. However, after suffering relegation from the Scottish Premiership in May, Hale is believed to be seeking a return to a higher level to bolster his international ambitions.
World Cup motivation
Hale made his senior debut for Northern Ireland in June during a 1-0 win over Iceland and is determined to feature regularly in Michael O’Neill’s squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September.
A move to League One could offer the step up in competition Hale desires. According to the Belfast Telegraph, Reading are seriously considering a bid and may soon test Ross County’s resolve. Wycombe and newly relegated Luton are also long-time admirers and remain in the mix.
While Scottish Premiership sides are monitoring the situation, interest from England is currently the most advanced.
Ross County looking for value
Ross County are expected to demand a respectable fee for the Belfast-born striker, who has two years remaining on his contract. Hale joined the club last season and quickly became a fan favourite after netting 18 goals in all competitionsduring their top-flight campaign.
His profile has risen steadily since completing an international switch from the Republic of Ireland youth setup to Northern Ireland in 2024. Hale previously represented Cliftonville, where he established himself as a prolific forward in the NIFL Premiership.
Now, with momentum on his side and a place at the 2026 World Cup in sight, a move to the EFL could be on the horizon.
