Hull City are exploring a move for Nigerian winger David Akintola, who is available on a free transfer following his departure from Turkish side Çaykur Rizespor.

The 29-year-old, who has previously featured for Adana Demirspor, Rosenborg, and FC Midtjylland, is viewed as a potential addition to bolster Sergej Jakirovic’s attacking options as the Tigers navigate financial restrictions imposed by the EFL. Despite recently operating under two transfer embargoes, Hull remain active in the free agent market and are keen to strengthen ahead of the new Championship campaign.

Akintola enjoyed a productive 2024/25 season in the Süper Lig, contributing directly to 9 goals in 32 appearances. His ability to operate on both flanks and deliver consistent end product makes him a strong candidate to provide depth — especially with injuries to Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi, and growing interest in Abu Kamara.

The move would not be impacted by Hull’s current restrictions, as Akintola is a free agent.

Key FotMob Stats – 2024/25 Süper Lig:

• 32 league appearances, 3 goals, 6 assists

• Percentile rank among Süper Lig wingers:

 • 74th for key passes per 90
