Hull City and Blackpool are in talks to sign Duncan Watmore after the 31-year-old forward was released by Millwall at the end of the 2024/25 season, according to Alan Nixon.

Both clubs are hoping to secure a deal for the experienced attacker, who is now assessing his options as a free agent. Watmore is expected to make a decision in the coming days amid offers from both sides.

Hull City, now under the management of Sergej Jakirovic, remain active in the market despite operating under an embargo. The club is currently appealing a restriction placed on them due to a delayed payment involving former loanee Louie Barry. Free transfers remain a key part of their strategy during this period, and Watmore is seen as a viable, low-cost addition to boost their forward depth.

Experienced and versatile

Watmore brings a wealth of Championship experience, having made 174 appearances in the second tier, scoring 33 goalsand assisting 13. He has also featured in the Premier League and League One across his career and remains a respected, hard-working option with tactical flexibility.

The Manchester-born forward is capable of playing on either wing, as a central striker, or in behind the main forward. That versatility makes him an appealing option for both Jakirovic and Blackpool manager Steve Bruce, who are each rebuilding with limited resources.

Watmore’s most productive spell came at Middlesbrough, where he notched 21 goals and 7 assists in 97 games. He also featured for SunderlandMillwall, and Altrincham during his senior career.
