West Bromwich Albion have completed the signing of USA international defender George Campbell from CF Montréal, with the deal understood to be worth around £1 million.
Campbell, 23, becomes Ryan Mason’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Nat Phillips from Liverpool and Aune Heggebø from SK Brann, as the Baggies continue to strengthen ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.
The highly-rated centre-back was absent from Montréal’s squad at the weekend and has now completed his move to The Hawthorns. Known for his physical strength, ball-carrying ability, and progressive passing, Campbell is expected to be a key figure in Albion’s promotion push.
Campbell began his career with Atlanta United, making 38 appearances before moving to Montréal, where he featured 78 times across two seasons. He has also registered five assists and has been touted as an outsider for the USMNT squad for the 2026 World Cup on home soil.
Campbell will join up with a restructured West Brom defence, with Phillips and Torbjørn Heggem likely to feature heavily in Mason’s plans.
