Charlton Athletic have agreed a deal to sign Rob Apter from Blackpool in a transfer worth over £2 million, sources have told Football Insider.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been a long-term target for the Addicks, who finally had a bid accepted after several previous offers were rejected by the Seasiders.

Apter enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 season, registering 8 goals and 8 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions — establishing himself as one of the most productive young midfielders in the EFL.

Despite manager Steve Bruce’s desire to keep the Scotland U21 international at Bloomfield Road, Charlton’s persistence has paid off. The player now becomes their latest summer addition ahead of a crucial 2025/26 Championship campaign.

Apter joined Blackpool’s academy at 15 and developed through the ranks, with productive loan spells at Scunthorpe United and Tranmere Rovers before breaking into the first team.

Charlton have already added former Luton trio Thomas KaminskiAmari’i Bell, and Reece Burke this summer under boss Nathan Jones. The arrival of Apter further underlines the club’s intent to avoid a return to League One.
