Norwich City have agreed a deal worth over £1 million to sign 21-year-old forward Jovon Makama from Lincoln City, with the player completing a medical ahead of a permanent move to Carrow Road.
Sky Sports first reported the development on Saturday evening, confirming the Imps had accepted a bid and that the player was undergoing tests. Lincoln later released a statement confirming that Makama was in talks with a Championship club, and his omission from the squad that beat Reading 2-0 only strengthened speculation.
Sources have since confirmed that the buying club is indeed Norwich City, who have moved quickly to finalise personal terms with the player and wrap up the transfer.
Record-breaking fee for Lincoln
The deal, believed to be in excess of £1 million, marks a record outgoing for Lincoln City — surpassing the sale of midfielder Ethan Erhahon earlier this summer. It also highlights the club’s growing reputation for developing talent, with Makama the latest academy product to attract Championship-level interest.
Makama, who signed his first pro contract with Lincoln in 2021, spent time on loan with Gainsborough Trinity and Brackley Town before breaking into the first team. He became a key figure during the 2024/25 season, notching 11 goals and six assists across all competitions and playing a vital role in Michael Skubala’s system.
Norwich rebuild continues under Manning
Norwich’s move for Makama continues their trend of targeting young, high-upside talent. The club has already added the likes of Pape Amadou Diallo, Mathias Kvistgaarden, and Harry Darling this summer, backing new head coach Liam Manning to overhaul the squad following a disappointing 13th-placed finish last season.
Makama is expected to provide attacking depth across the front line, with the ability to play as a central striker or as an inside forward — most notably from the right.
The Canaries are preparing for potential outgoings, with Josh Sargent still the subject of transfer speculation. Makama’s arrival helps mitigate that risk and offers a long-term development project that could deliver both on the pitch and financially.
