Newport County have confirmed the loan signing of highly rated defender Habeeb Ogunneye from Manchester United for the 2025/26 season.
The 19-year-old right-back joins the League Two club seeking regular senior football, having been at Old Trafford for 14 years, initially joining United’s youth ranks aged five.
Ogunneye has featured in United’s youth teams across multiple competitions, including the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League, FA Youth Cup, and EFL Trophy. Although named in ten first-team matchday squads, he is yet to make his senior competitive debut.
The move reunites Ogunneye with former Manchester United U21 assistant coach Dave Hughes, now part of the setup at Newport.
Subject to EFL and international clearance, Ogunneye is available immediately, having already joined his new teammates ahead of tonight’s friendly at Weston-super-Mare AFC.
