Luton Town are poised to finalize the signing of Colchester United striker Samson Tovide following the acceptance of a bid by the League Two club.

Tovide, 21, was omitted from Colchester’s matchday squad to face Tranmere Rovers on the opening day of the League Two season, and manager Danny Cowley has since confirmed to BBC Essex that terms have been agreed for his departure.

The young forward has attracted interest from Championship side QPR and League One outfit Barnsley this summer, but it appears Luton have won the race for his services.

Tovide made his Colchester debut as a 16-year-old in the EFL Trophy against Southend United back in 2020, handed his first senior appearance by then-manager Steve Ball. He has since become a first-team regular, clocking over 100 appearances across all competitions and scoring 14 goals.

Having joined Colchester’s academy at under-15 level from Leyton Orient, Tovide has grown into one of the club’s most valuable assets and now looks set for the next step in his career.

A move to Luton would mark a significant rise, offering the promising striker an opportunity to test himself in a more competitive environment as he continues his development.
