Leyton Orient have confirmed the permanent signing of 19-year-old winger Lemar Gordon from Premier League side Fulham.
The exciting wide forward has signed a two-year contract at Brisbane Road with the option of a third year, and becomes the O’s 12th signing of a busy summer window as Richie Wellens reshapes his squad for the 2025/26 League One campaign.

🔁 From West to East London
Gordon has spent the last nine years in Fulham’s academy, progressing through the ranks and regularly featuring in the club’s U18 and U21 setups. He was offered a new deal at Craven Cottage this summer but opted to seek senior opportunities elsewhere—choosing Leyton Orient as the ideal platform to begin his professional career.
Orient have agreed an undisclosed compensation package with Fulham, avoiding the need for a tribunal hearing.
“I’m really excited to be joining Leyton Orient,” Gordon said after signing. “I’ve had a great footballing education at Fulham, and I believe that now is the right time to start my next chapter and kickstart my senior career.
“I’m determined to make that transition into playing regular men’s football and I’m taking inspiration from people like Ollie O’Neill, who I know well from our time at Fulham together.”

🧠 A Character Move
O’s boss Richie Wellens welcomed Gordon’s attitude and ambition, pointing to the youngster’s decision to turn down a Premier League offer in favour of League One football.
“As a coach, it is refreshing to see a player turn down a Premier League contract to sign for a club in League One,” Wellens said. “That instantly tells you a lot about his character—it means he is hungry to do well.
“Lemar has good technical skills and he is someone that we will put a lot of work into. We believe that he has the potential to be a very good player for this club in the future.”
Director of Football Martin Ling echoed the sentiment, highlighting Orient’s long-standing interest in the player and the club’s strengthening ties with top-flight academies.
“We have been aware of Lemar for a few years now and I’m really pleased that he has signed,” Ling said. “We have a great relationship with a lot of the Premier League clubs and we’re grateful to Fulham for coming to an agreement with us.
“We did something similar with them to bring Ollie O’Neill to the club in January 2024, and that has worked out very well for us.”

🎯 What Gordon Brings
A versatile and technically gifted wide player, Gordon is comfortable on either wing and thrives in one-on-one situations. He combines pace and close control with the ability to beat defenders, deliver crosses, and chip in with goals. His style is direct, confident, and well-suited to Richie Wellens’ attacking approach.
With Leyton Orient aiming to progress further in League One this season, Gordon is expected to be eased into the senior environment while receiving close coaching and development support.
He joins a list of promising young talent at the club and adds further depth to Orient’s increasingly youthful and dynamic attacking options.
