Barnet have completed the signing of Manchester United striker Joe Hugill on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old arrives at The Hive with experience across multiple EFL levels and becomes the latest addition to Dean Brennan’s squad ahead of the 2025/26 League Two campaign.

Hugill, a product of the Manchester United academy, signed for the Premier League side from Sunderland at the age of 16, beating off competition from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. He made headlines shortly after his arrival by scoring four goals against Liverpool U23s in a single game, and has since featured in first-team training sessions while also earning England youth international recognition.

The Durham-born forward has previously enjoyed loan spells at Altrincham, Burton Albion, Wigan Athletic and most recently Carlisle United, gaining valuable senior experience across the divisions.

Speaking to club media after completing the move, Hugill described himself as a striker who “likes to play on the shoulder and use pace in behind,” likening his style to that of Jamie Vardy. He added: “I’ve seen how Barnet play — it really suits my game. I’m excited and ready to get going.”

Barnet manager Dean Brennan welcomed the signing, calling Hugill “a dynamic forward with excellent movement and a natural eye for goal.” He added: “We’ve been targeting this profile of player for some time. Joe gives us a different dimension and brings strong pedigree from a top academy.”

The deal marks a significant attacking addition for the Bees as they look to build on their momentum in League Two.
