Oldham Athletic are set to announce the signing of experienced full-back Jamie Robson from Forest Green Rovers, with the 27-year-old expected to become the Latics’ latest summer addition.

The Scotsman, who was voted both the Supporters’ Player and Players’ Player of the Season at Forest Green in 2024/25, departs after two-and-a-half seasons at The New Lawn, where he made 122 appearances across all competitions.

Sources close to the deal have confirmed that the transfer is complete, with only formalities left before Oldham unveil Robson as their next signing. It marks the first departure of the summer from Forest Green, with more exits expected in the coming weeks.

A Consistent Performer in Difficult Circumstances

Robson was one of few bright spots in a challenging season for Forest Green. Despite the team finishing 19th in the National League, he played every single league match under Steve Cotterill, underlining his durability, experience, and professionalism.

Robson originally joined Forest Green from Lincoln City in January 2023, having previously played Scottish Premiership football with Dundee United and League One football in England. His versatility across the left flank and steady delivery from wide areas made him a fan favourite at both clubs.

His departure comes after Forest Green signed left-back Neil Kengni from Macclesfield earlier this summer – a move that pushed Robson down the pecking order under new manager Robbie Savage.

Valuable EFL Pedigree for the Latics

Oldham Athletic, now back in the EFL for 2025/26, have wasted little time in recruiting proven experience as they aim for stability in League Two. Robson fits the bill perfectly: a battle-tested left-back with over 100 professional appearances, high fitness levels, and two years of League One and National League experience in England.

Speaking after Forest Green confirmed his release, a club spokesperson said:

“Rovers can confirm that full-back Jamie Robson has left the club with immediate effect. The Club wishes him well in the next chapter of his career.”

Oldham began their League Two campaign with a goalless draw against MK Dons and were eliminated in the EFL Cup by Accrington Stanley on Tuesday. Robson’s arrival adds vital depth and quality to a defensive unit that already includes Jordan Clarke and Liam Hogan.
