Cedric Kipre joins Ipswich Town from Reims on loan - Ipswich, UK - 15th January 2025

Ipswich Town have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Cédric Kipré on a season-long loan from French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims.

The powerful 28-year-old centre-back arrives at Portman Road with a wealth of experience, having made 174 Championship appearances during previous spells at Wigan, Cardiff City, and West Bromwich Albion.

Standing at 6’4”, Kipré adds real physical presence to Kieran McKenna’s squad ahead of their return to the Premier League.

The Ivorian defender spent the 2024/25 season back in France, where he made 28 appearances in Ligue 1 for Reims. His performances earned him a first senior international cap for Ivory Coast, playing the full 90 minutes in a recent friendly against New Zealand.

Kipré’s career began in the youth system at Paris Saint-Germain, but his senior breakthrough came at Corby Town. He later impressed at Motherwell before sealing moves to Wigan and then West Brom, where he earned both the Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Season awards in 2023/24.

Speaking on his arrival at Town, Kipré said:

“I spoke with the Manager and I really liked what he said about the way he wants to work. He wants to work hard – I also want to work hard.”
