Stevenage have announced the permanent signing of striker Jovan Malcolm from National League side Gateshead for an undisclosed five-figure fee.

The 22-year-old joins on a two-year contract, with the option of a further year, after an impressive season in the North East. Malcolm becomes Stevenage’s first attacking addition of the summer window as Alex Revell’s side look to build on their perfect start to the 2025/26 League One campaign.

Career so far

A product of the West Bromwich Albion academy, Malcolm progressed through the youth ranks to make his senior debut in the FA Cup, scoring in a win over Chesterfield. Loan spells at Accrington Stanley, Solihull Moors and Cheltenham Town gave him early experience of senior football before a permanent move to Gateshead in September 2024.

He quickly established himself as a key figure for the Tynesiders, bringing pace, power and direct running to their attack.

Productive spell at Gateshead

Malcolm enjoyed regular game time during the 2024/25 campaign, contributing goals and assists while leading the line. His performances caught the eye of Stevenage’s recruitment team, who moved to secure his services as they target another strong season in League One.
