Crewe Alexandra have confirmed the signing of central defender James Golding from Oxford United on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international, who stands at 6ft 3in, joins Lee Bell’s side to add height, physicality, and defensive options for the 2025/26 League Two campaign.
Career so far
Golding began his career in AFC Wimbledon’s academy before moving to Oxford United in 2020. He has since gained valuable senior experience on loan with Banbury United, Dartford, Maidenhead United, and most recently Southend United in the National League.
Last season, he enjoyed his most consistent spell in senior football to date, becoming a regular starter for Southend and showing his ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch. He has also represented the Republic of Ireland Under-19s on four occasions.
