Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Australia international Lewis Miller from Hibernian for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old right-back joins on a three-year contract until June 2028, with the option of a further year. He becomes Rovers’ fifth signing of the summer, following the departures of several key players — including full-back Callum Brittain, who joined Middlesbrough earlier in the day.

Miller is expected to go straight into contention for Rovers’ opening Championship fixture away at West Brom this Saturday, subject to international clearance and visa approval.

A Rising Force

Miller arrives at Ewood Park after an impressive 2024/25 season north of the border, where he made 39 appearances in all competitions for Hibs as they finished third in the Scottish Premiership.

An aggressive, athletic and attack-minded full-back, the Sydney-born defender brings energy and international pedigree to John Eustace’s squad. His performances last term attracted interest from multiple Championship sides before Rovers secured his signature.

From Australia to Ewood

Miller began his senior career at Central Coast Mariners in the A-League, breaking into the first team during the 2020 campaign. In 2021/22, he featured 22 times and earned a spot in Opta’s A-League Team of the Season.

Originally set to join Macarthur FC in 2022, Miller instead signed for Hibernian. He went on to make 85 appearances across all competitions for the Edinburgh club, scoring five goals and becoming a firm fan favourite for his relentless playing style and big-game temperament.

International Recognition

Miller’s strong club form has been matched by international success. He made his Australia debut against England at Wembley in October 2023 and now has 14 senior caps and two international goals to his name. He was a key figure as the Socceroos secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Hibernian Reactions

Hibernian head coach David Gray praised the full-back’s professionalism:

“Since making the move to Scotland, he’s been coachable, willing to learn, and has relentlessly worked on his game. He’s certainly seen the rewards for that both at club level and internationally.”

Sporting director Malky Mackay added:

“We triggered Lewis’ contract extension in April amid strong interest. We’ve worked hard to ensure a fee that reflects his value, and we’re grateful for his contribution.”
