Cambridge United have secured the season-long loan signing of Blackpool striker Kylian Kouassi.

The 22-year-old forward joined Blackpool from Sutton United in 2023 and has since made 24 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

Kouassi spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Salford City in League Two, where he was a regular under Karl Robinson before a hamstring injury cut his campaign short. In 31 appearances, he scored three goals and assisted twice, demonstrating his physicality and work rate despite the setback.

With Ashley Fletcher, Niall Ennis, and summer signing Dale Taylor ahead of him at Bloomfield Road, the decision was made to send Kouassi back to League Two for consistent playing time. Cambridge manager Garry Monk was eager to bolster his attacking options, and Kouassi is expected to serve as a focal point alongside Fejiri Okenabirhie and Elias Kachunga.

Blackpool manager Steve Bruce recently highlighted the importance of Kouassi gaining regular match experience to aid his development.

For Cambridge, Kouassi offers versatility, capable of playing across the front two or as a lone striker. His ability to press defenders and hold up the ball will add a valuable dimension to their attack.
