Feyenoord have completed the signing of Bosnian defender Anel Ahmedhodžić from Sheffield United in a deal worth £15.6 million (€18m).
The 26-year-old joins the Dutch giants on a four-year contract after three successful seasons at Bramall Lane, where he made 114 appearances and scored 12 goals following his 2022 arrival from Malmö FF.
Ahmedhodžić becomes Feyenoord’s latest summer signing as the club looks to bolster its back line ahead of their Champions League qualifying tie against Fenerbahce. The Rotterdam outfit confirmed they are working to finalise eligibility for the centre-back ahead of Wednesday’s crucial clash.
A Key Figure in Blades’ Recent History
Standing at 6’5”, Ahmedhodžić quickly became a fan favourite at Sheffield United due to his composed presence, aerial dominance, and surprising attacking contributions. He played a key role in the Blades’ promotion-winning 2022/23 campaign and featured regularly in their Premier League season the following year.
In 2024/25, he was again a mainstay in the squad, helping them reach the Championship play-off final, where they narrowly missed out on a return to the top flight following defeat to Sunderland.

Sheffield United confirmed the deal on Sunday afternoon, stating:
“The club has accepted a significant bid for the transfer of defender Anel Ahmedhodžić. The former Bosnian international leaves with immediate effect to join Dutch Eredivisie club, Feyenoord.”
