Wrexham are preparing a £3million bid for Hull City defender Alfie Jones as they continue their ambitious summer recruitment drive ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.

The 27-year-old centre-back, who can also operate in midfield, is entering the final year of his contract at the MKM Stadium and has attracted interest from several clubs — including Middlesbrough — but it’s Wrexham who are now hoping to steal a march on their rivals.

Jones has made over 190 appearances for the Tigers since joining from Southampton and was named the club’s Player of the Year in 2023. Standing at 6’3”, he is known for his positional awareness, composure in possession, and ability to read the game — traits that could prove vital for Wrexham in their first second-tier campaign in over 20 years.

The move would represent another bold investment by the Red Dragons, who have already been linked with a separate multi-million-pound deal for Serie A full-back Liberato Cacace.

With manager Phil Parkinson determined to build a squad capable of surviving and competing at Championship level, a deal for Jones would bring proven quality and leadership to the Wrexham back line.
